How to create an emergency hotspot network

Updated over a year ago

In the event that you’re experiencing an Internet network outage that will affect your day-to-day transactions with Tendy, you can create a temporary mobile hotspot network, so that your business’ day-to-day transactions are not interrupted.

The following steps outline how you can create a mobile hotspot with your smartphone so that you can continue to use Tendy during an Internet network outage. IMPORTANT: Please note that mobile data charges will apply - and can vary depending on your mobile network carrier - so you should only create a mobile hotspot in the event that you're experiencing an Internet network outage. A mobile hotspot network should be intended for emergency use only and should NOT be your primary method of online connectivity for your business.

Step 1: From your smartphone, go to your PHONE SETTINGS screen and then to the NETWORK or CONNECTIONS tab. (Note: The name of this section will vary depending on the make and model of your smartphone but this section in your phone is where you would go to configure or view your WiFi or cellular network information. It may be called Personal Hotspot or Mobile Hotspot and Tethering.)

Step 2: Select CREATE HOTSPOT and read the onscreen instructions carefully. Please note that when creating a hotspot network, a network password should be created to prevent unauthorized use of your mobile hotspot.

Step 3: Next, from your POS tablet, you can go to the tablet SYSTEM SETTINGS to access your network connections and find your newly-created hotspot, and input the password to connect to the hotspot network.

Your Tendy POS system will now have a network connection.

VERY IMPORTANT: Please note that an active hotspot connection requires the mobile device to be within close proximity to your Tendy POS system, and moving your smartphone too far from your Tendy system will sever the network connection and nullify any transactions in progress. When using a mobile hotspot network, it's best to keep your smartphone close to your Tendy POS system.
