Troubleshooting Barcode Scanning Issues

Updated over a year ago

If you're experiencing difficulties with scanning product barcodes, here are some things to check:

First, all GS1 stacked databar (or lot stacked product barcodes) - like the one shown above - usually include three (3) critical values; the GTIN number, the Expiry Date, and the Lot Number.

If you're experiencing difficulties scanning specific products, please double check that:

  • The Barcode/GTIN lot is correct in the Tendy merchant dashboard

  • When entering the above information into your product catalogue, you do not include any numbers in parentheses. For example, if the GTIN number is (01) 123456000018, then you only need to input 123456000018 and must exclude the (01). The same applies for the Expiry Date, and Lot Number values.

  • Double check that you are using a 2D barcode scanner. Standard 1D scanners typically used for most non-Cannabis businesses will not work as GS1-standard stacked databar barcodes are not compatible.

NOTE: Sometimes products may have two (2) barcodes (see photo below). In this case, you'll want to scan the barcode with numeric values in parentheses.
